Reports from Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency indicates that certain group of young patriots believed to be mostly muslims led by the Constituency Secretary, Mr Bashiru Mohammed and one Rita Adoma are going round defacing and covering the face of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on NPP posters with that of the parliamentary candidate, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi.
The youth group according to report from peace FM argues that, they don’t understand why Bawumia’s pictures should dominate the constituency knowing very well that his picture will not be seen on any ballot paper.
This has created so much tension among the constituency hierarchy and the muslim community thereby prompting one Mr George Adu Darko to parade a youth group by name Concerned Patriots of Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency to petition the chief Imam over this development.
This action by Mr Darko according to reports comes as a shock to the constituency executives and the party faithfuls since he Adu Darko prior to the District Assembly elections denounced his membership with the NPP as he aspires for the slot of Assembly member. However, some party members were not so much surprised about the behavior of Adu Darko since he is known for creating confusion and chaos in the constituency.
Mr Archibald Adjei who doubles as the head of operations of the constituency campaign team and youth leader speaking about this development, attributed the whole action to the supporters of the MCE, Mr Emmanuel Lamptey especially Mr Adu Darko who was during the parliamentary primaries in support of the MCE’s bid.
On trying to find out why Mr Archibald would raise such allegations against the supporters of MCE, he indicated that after the MCE bitterly lost the parliamentary primaries, his followers has resorted to using such tactics to create discomfort for the parliamentary Candidate out of hatred, of which the MCE has not called them to order.
Mr Achibald also stated that the Ga Central Municipal Assembly needs to work, but instead of the MCE and his cohorts concentrating of fixing bad roads, and problems of flooding among others, they have rather resorted to following issues of posters that will not add up to the development of the municipal.
Meanwhile, the constituency chairman, Mr Albert Sam in a voice note on the constituency’s WhatsApp platform has warned the perpetrators against such acts of discrimination against the Vice President who has been an integral part of the party’s communication and governance.
The Parliamentary Candidate on the other hand has also condemned the acts and ordered for all his posters going round to be put on hold until further notice. He has also shown so many banners with pictures of Bawumia to support that he has no hand in this shameful act.
This comes after an undisclosed source reports that one Hajia Fati from the party headquarters called to lambast the Parliamentary Candidate.
Bashiru speaking on Peace Fm’s evening news today, the 7th of September, 2020 dissociated himself from the act and attributed it to George Adu Darko and also accused him of trying to raise Muslims against Christian’s in the constituency.
Mr Bashiru believes that Mr George has a hidden. agenda against the Parliamentary Candidate. The Nasara group on the other hand has been supportive of both the PC and Dr Bawumia and hence see no need for creation of tension within the constituency over this issue.
