— “Schools Authorities Sent My Daughter Home Because They Said I’m Having HIV/AIDS” – Joyce Dzidzor Speaks Reason Behind The HIV Test
Ghanaian former HIV/AIDS Ambassador Joyce Dzidzor Mensah reveals why on the 2nd of June, she conducted an HIV/AIDS test on her family on live TV where her children were tested negative.
According to the actress, her children have been suffering and have been stigmatized by people and school authorities due to the decision she took some years back to become an HIV/AlDS ambassador.
“I have not stolen any money like has been rumored, my children have a life to live, they should not suffer for a decision I made,” she said.
Joyce speaking in tears disclosed that her daughter once was denied admission into school because they said she’s a bearer of the deadly disease.
“Just recently, my daughter, who got admission into a school, was sent home because according to a mail sent to me by the authorities they read on the internet that I have HIV.
She, therefore, asked, “My question is should a child be denied access to education because of HIV even if it is true? ”
She added that her children have nothing in their blood for the reason she came live on TV to clear the air to evade her children from stigmatization due to a decision which she doesn’t know will affect her children.
“My children are going through a lot, they cannot go to school; I recall one day my son came home from school saying that I should stop the HIV project because they call him the ‘AIDS boy’ in school.
“Yes, I made a mistake by taking on this task and I didn’t know it will hurt my children this way. My children do not have anything in their blood. I want my life and my children’s back and that is why I am going to all these lengths to clear the air.
