Ghanaian policing can now be comparable to world policing standards to some level. Ghanaian cops are growing more savvy. As a result, the police force has become a very appealing job in the country, which most people aspire to.

The IGP and the Police Management Board have been traveling over the country talking with people and police officers to see how they can best assist and enhance policing as part of the police’s efforts to incorporate communities in policing.

The inspector general of police, the police management board, and the Volta regional police command paid a visit to police personnel in the Volta region last night, when they proceeded to the Aflao border to meet with officers there.

During his rounds, the IGP came across a police station where a large number of seized motorcycles and bicycles were piled up. He was dissatisfied with the situation and inquired of the district commander as to why those engines were present.

He informed the district commander that such behavior does not reflect well on the police force. Anyone who witnesses something like this will have a negative view of policing. He directed that all motors be removed from the premises by the following week at the latest.

He stated that they are attempting to improve the image of policing and that such actions would be counterproductive. As they continued walking, they came across a group of motorcyclists. They were almost all without helmets. They were intercepted, and the IGP spoke with them.

He made it clear to them that police officers are not their adversaries, but rather their allies. All they want is to get rid of the evil people among them so they can live in peace. As a result, they would be well to aid the police in removing those individuals from the group.

People appeared pleased with the manner in which they were addressed and wanted to know who had addressed them. The fact that it was the Inspector General of Police was revealed at that point. Dr. Dampare is doing an excellent job, and we hope he will receive all of the assistance he requires to reach his objectives. Below is the link to the video
