Dubai Policeman jailed for joking about burning Messi’s passport
A police officer in Dubai almost got himself jailed for joking about burning Lionel Messi’s passport back in 2016.
The incident took place during Messi’s trip to Dubai to collect his Player of the Year prize at the Global Soccer Awards a few years ago.
The policeman wanted a picture with the Barcelona captain at the airport but was informed that the Argentine was tired after a long flight.
So he just went over to the passport desk and stole Messi’s passport before shooting a video with it.
In the video, he said: “This is Messi’s (passport), he is here in Dubai, what do I do? Shall I burn the passport or just put it back! Ok ok you can go!”
The policeman was charged by the law for his crimes and was jailed for one month for “abusing the telecommunication system.”
